Environmental Sustainability Courses Empower Frontline Workers to Protect the Planet

By Intertek Alchemy   |

In support of World Nature Conservation Day, Intertek Alchemy is highlighting its catalog of environmental sustainability training courses. This catalog includes 24 courses covering 12 important topics for frontline manufacturing workers and supervisors, offering instructions on how to achieve business production goals and protect the environment.

The timing and the content of these training courses is especially important as our planet faces unprecedented environmental challenges. Manufacturing companies have a responsibility to factor environmental responsibility into their operations. And engaging their frontline workforces in their efforts is critical to success. Working with our clients and frontline workers around the world, we all have the power to leave the world a better place.

The World Nature Conservation Day is observed every year on July 28 to keep the world healthy, by focusing on saving threatened plants and animals.

Intertek Alchemy is fully committed to sustainability. One of our three 2022 corporate goals focuses on lowering our CO2 emissions. With these courses, you can educate your frontline workers on their roles in your company’s sustainability efforts. These 12 learner courses cover a broad spectrum of topics and are available for group-based training and eLearning.

  • Environmental Responsibility: Introduction
  • Environmental Management System: Overview
  • Stormwater Runoff
  • Spill Prevention
  • Hazardous Waste Awareness
  • Pollution: Air, Water, Noise

In many cases, these topics aren’t issues or tasks that workers deal with every day and will have limited impact unless they are supported by organizational change. Recognizing this, we’ve provided an additional 12 facilitator courses that align perfectly with the learner courses.

These interactive eLearning-only facilitator courses can be used by facility-level EHS managers, continuous improvement managers, and sustainability leaders to promote and reinforce your sustainability efforts. It is important to recognize that these are more than simply courses – they are powerful toolsets in which you’ll find:

  • Leader videos, summaries of key points, engaging questions for learners, huddle guides to use in groups, etc.
  • Guides to customize the worker courses that go beyond Alchemy Creator (e.g., Branded PowerPoint slide layouts)
  • Tools to promote the topics around the facility (e.g., table tents)
  • Recognition awards to call out workers making a difference
  • Data collection tables in Excel that help you measure waste, water, and energy
  • Social media posts to promote your company’s efforts externally

In addition, most of the items in the facilitator toolboxes are downloadable and editable, empowering your leaders to adapt them to the specific needs of your facility. All 24 courses are available in both English and Spanish.

Studies show that the vast majority of consumers care about the environment, and GFSI may incorporate sustainability into its food safety standards in the future.

Moving forward, businesses will need to make changes to operate in a more sustainable fashion. These sustainability courses will complement and reinforce your efforts by helping you get every worker on board. Together, we can make a difference for our communities, our families, and our future.

Please contact us with questions about these courses or any other Intertek Alchemy programs. We’d also love to hear what your company is doing to protect the planet through greater sustainability.
